Taking On The Porch: As it stands right now

We have decided to tackle a major house project. We are enclosing our front porch to give us more dining room space. Currently we pull our table way out from the wall to get all 4 of us around it and we have to rearrange the living room and set up a table when we have guests.

With permit in hand (a whole process in itself) and with the help of several volunteers this coming weekend we are planning on diving in head first.

Tonight we started the prep work be tearing down the fence on the porch and taking down a few other things. Fun times! Here's a few pics of what it is like right now.

Below is a label I get a kick out of every time I read it. In fact I have kept the bottle to refill for several years now because it amusing me so much. Check out the first line...Sauve Daily Clarifying Shampoo deep cleans and clarifies hair -

That is BRILLIANT! For less money than more expensive brands. Who are the geniuses who came up with that line? I'M SOLD ON THE STUFF! That gets me.

As amusing as I find that, it is not nearly as amusing as the advertising in this link...

Mom and Dad are north

Woohoo! Mom and Dad have moved north to Illinois (from Florida). We are soooo glad to have them within a days drive. Last weekend they came up to Wisconsin to visit and stayed with Elissa's parents.

From the Mouth of Children - That might hurt

Today at lunch our family was sitting around table enjoying conversation when out of nowhere Joshua started to cry. I was taken back because he wasn't acting tired and no other normal thing seemed to be wrong. When we asked him what was going on he said with tears coming down his cheeks...

"I ate my finger."

The poor guy had taken a bite of food and unintentionally inserted his finger a little to far. However after a kiss on the finger and couple minutes on daddies lap he was good to go.

From the Mouth of Children - A Highlight

Every evening at supper time our family shares the highlight and lowlight of our day. Usually when we ask Joshua what his highlight was he says, "It was good," which obviously does not tell about any specific event in his day. However, tonight we got a real answer to our question. He said, "Mama, when you said my quiet time was over...THAT was my highlight."

This evening I needed to call Ernie, my boss. After I talked to him about what we needed to, I said goodbye. Joshua immediately piped in and said, "I'm going to call Bert." I guess he felt that if I was calling Ernie, Bert deserved a phone call as well. You didn't know I have direct ties to Sesame Street did you?
